Progress

I've been at work a lot recently and as some of you might have seen on the news recently, a lot of hospitals are really struggling at the moment. I work long night shifts in A and E and boy does it take it out of you. Whilst we still get a lot of minor injuries (and a lot of inappropriate attendances) the vast majority of our patients are very poorly and require a huge amount of care. I'm finding it takes me longer, both emotionally and physically to recover from my night shifts, which is why I've been quiet here. I'm now in the middle of a week off and still have a few more days off to enjoy.

I've made huge amounts of progress on my 'Gankie'. I've just completed my 29th row and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one. I've also got some yarn details to share with you.

Top Row - Sirdar Snuggly DK - Gold, Annell Rapido - Blue Grey 3236
Second Row - Stylecraft Luxury Wool Rich DK - Petrol - Autumn Glow, Stylecraft Life DK - Mint - Fern
Third Row - Stylecraft Special DK - Parchment - Pale Rose - Camel - Walnut
Fourth Row - Khaki - Graphite - Copper - Silver
Fifth Row - Grape - Claret - Mocha

I'm not sure how many rows I'll make it, perhaps 70, maybe a few more. I'm already excited about the border!

xXx

  1. Beautiful. Is the chalky colour true? 'Cause sometimes the PC/camera plays tricks. Love the colours.

    1. No, it's not as chalky in real life. The top photograph is 'unaltered' so the colours are true in that one.

  2. It is stunning Carole, and crochet is there as a peaceful pick-me-up whenever you have a spare few minutes. I for one am totally thankful for the professionalism of the vast majority of the health profession. Keep up the great work! Fiona x

  4. Beautiful! I made one last year and it was just so lovely to do complete each line. The blanket became HUGE though with so many lovely colours. Lovely and warm in this cold weather we are having. Chel x

  8. Your Gankie is fabulous. As a fellow NHS worker you have my heart-felt sympathies. I know it doesn't always feel like it, but we do make a difference.

  10. You are so focused, Carole and my gosh, a night nurse and juggling everything else? This Gankie is all kinds of wonderful.

  11. Oh, it is SO pretty! I made one not too long ago in really bright colors and now I'm starting to like a little more muted like yours! Thanks for mentioning the yarn and colors as I have terrible color sense...I just know what I like when I see it and I love yours!
My Mom was a psychiatric nurse and nights is really hard....it's not a natural time to be up for one and all the "crazies" really are out at night! I used to tell my children, "nothing good happens after midnight" trying to tell them to stay off the streets at that time of night as they got older.
The flu is really big here and 19 people have died just in my state alone. I have no immune system so I get a flu shot and try and stay out of public places...so far so good!
I hope you keep blogging regularly although it must be hard with all your responsibilities. I truly love your projects!

Your pain, although I don't mind when my job (police lady) means we come to a hospital and see others working and not sleeping :-) oh to be crocheting instead. Beautiful blanket! Xx
