Prior to declaring myself on a no new yarn ban I had made a little sneaky order from the US. I know some folks aren't so keen to order from the US but I have ordered from there lots of times and have no worries about doing so. This order was small in terms of money value so I wasn't overly concerned about customs fees but it is worth bearing in mind if you decide to give it a try. My order came from
Bernat and arrived in just a few days. I guess the title of my post gives my yarny package away somewhat but just in case you overlooked that bit, my delivery was of oodles of bright , colourful dishcloth cotton. I am hoping to turn these into various styles of cloths to go in our newly, but not yet, finished, bathroom. the idea being that each member of the family can have their very own washcloths. I cast on a really simple cloth last night called
Nubbins Dishcloth and so far so good! I like pooling so will be very interested to see how this looks when it's finished. I can't decide which way it's going yet, can you?

Thanks to all of you who stopped by yesterday and who gave your opinion on what I should do with my Sunny Squares. It's seems that you all thought I should complete another 16 squares so that's what I will be doing this week.
I've had some peaches and creme cotton hanging around for ages, I'm going to put washcloths on my Year of Projects list and try and use them to speed up my new continental knitting. Love the colours you have chosen.
ReplyDeleteThe american cottons are nice for dishcloths, they are thick and hold up very well. I have made a lot of things with them. Lots of colors to choose from too. I like the Rico cotton for making decorations or bags. It is thinner and really soft. Just depends on what you are making. Glad you are going to finish the Sunny Spread. Welcome back Carole. You have lots of fans.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours of yarn you've chosen. I'm really tempted to buy yarn from the US - especially from some of the gorgeous indie dyers, but the customs fees make me wary of doing it. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful coloured yarns!

This is one of my favorite yarns for kitchen and bath accesories! I am actually using some yellow right now to make a bath poof that I will post on my blog as soon as I complete it. :)
ReplyDeletethe new yarn looks gorgeous. Washclothes is something I've never thought of making. but what a fab idea. i do look forward to seeing them finished.
ReplyDeleteWashcloths are fab - much better than shop bought ones! Which Bernat yarn did you buy? lol x
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely colors! I sure wish we could all purchase from each other all over the world with no worries as I would love to order yarn from Europe and Australia! Welcome back--I have missed you.
