Oh Dear!

It's been half term from school this week and I really hoped to be posting about how much fun we had had, but it's turned into an absolute disaster (said in my best Craig Revel Horwood voice). Katherine has been very poorly with another urinary tract infection, requiring a trip to the Dr's, antibiotics and vast amounts of Calpol. Despite antibiotics it has taken four days for her to return to her normal self. Today has been the first day she has woken up without crying and complaining of a headache.

We've managed a few trips here and there and Gran has been here too which has certainly helped a little. The end of the week saw myself, Rich and the older two heading to Flamingo Land for a day out. I'd really like to say we had a wonderful time but we didn't. There were highlights - I very much enjoyed the sea lion show and a couple of the rides we managed to go on were fun, but over all the day was written off thanks to Imogen, behaving appallingly. Maybe I expect too much from her at very nearly eight, but she really did spoil the day, with much sulking, whinging and tantruming (is that a word?!). In the end we left early and really wished we hadn't bothered going at all. I didn't even take many photographs which is most unlike me at all!
I hope you are having a much better time than we have this half term. I'm hoping the last few days off are much better here too.

  1. Oh Dear, I have just survived Half Term too. Kids behaviour fluctuates doesn't it? You can never predict...they go through a lovely few weeks followed by a shocker! Lots of love to Imogen I am sure she will be all Diva'd out soon. They are all lovely when they are asleep :)

  3. Hi Carole... Oh I remember times that like so well.. sometimes you just can't seem to please them can you? Mine are now 27, 23 and 21 and there are still days! Mind you I have better options now... I can just go out and leave them behind! It gets better... I promise :)x

  4. There must have been something in the air! I had a half term of poorly child mixed with them all niggling, arguing, whining and moaning. Looking forward to peace and quiet next week.

  5. Poor little K, UTIs are nasty. I hope she is fully recovered soon. It can be so hard for the whole family when one child is poorly.

I hope that this week goes better for you all, and that you are able to find a little time to yourself x

  6. L gets infections like that and they are awful. I hope she is really better now. My heart went out to you when I read your post, there are sometimes days when we mothers just can't make it all fun and better. I'm about to tuck myself up with my hook and a ball of yarn and watch the chaos descend around me for half an hour!

  8. It is somewhat comforting that other families go through stroppy kids too. My oldest is eight and even being a boy is very hormonal and stroppy, some days you wonder if you may have picked someone else's child up from school. Other days he is a lovely natured, kind hearted blue eyed boy and you start to wonder if you're going lala!

Sorry you've had a disappointing hols, I hope that you somehow make this Sunday so good that it outweighs the rest, and hope your little girl is totally better now.
