One a Day?

I've been toying with an idea for a while. It's not my idea, it's totally and utterly pinched from Little Cotton Rabbits. The idea is to pick a blanket made up from smaller shapes and just do one a day until eventually your blanket is a big as you want.

I've kind of tried this idea before using the same pattern as Julie - Flowers in the Snow - but me and the yarn just didn't get along and so the project is in hibernation. BUT I still find my self yearning to do a One a Day project. And today I've made the decision that I will do a One a Day blanket and I was wondering if any of you out there would like to join me? The blanket could be any pattern you wish, any size you like - the idea is just to do One a Day.

I have a rather large mountain of King Cole Bamboo Cotton, that needs to be used (but I will admit I am finding it very hard to resist buying some Rowan Belle the same as Julie) and I'm trying to decide which pattern to use. Here are some of my contenders..........

Flowers in the Snow
Hexagon How To

Grandala Square
Sunny Spread

So what do you think? Would you like to join me?

  1. Ooooh I've just finished my sunny spread but might be keen on the Grandala square! Exciting! Although I think I need to finish 2 little cardies first, they're all done just need to be stitched together :/

  2. I love the one-a-day idea, and every knitter (it seems) is going crazy for the beekeeper quilt at the moment. I like all the patterns you chose, so I'm no help at all really!

  4. I really like the Sunny Spread, it looks so fresh! I would love to make a blanket but I don't think I'd be able to make one square each day...
Usually when I make blankets (like mini baby blankets) I just sit down and crochet non-stop for 3 days until it's finished ;)
But hey, who knows! :) I'll keep an eye out for this project.
    xo,
    wink

  6. Nice! On my list is a blanket for my 4 year old and I was going to do a simple crochet blocks of color blanket but since you threw this invite out and you're a great color and blanket inspiration to me...

  8. Brilliant idea... my daughter has just got engaged and will get married in August next year with a little luck so I could do a square a day with you and give her the blanket! Ummm... she likes neutral colours (not sharing her Mummy's love of bright colour as yet)... so I will have to do a creamy/greyish version but I'll definately join in... whichever blanket you choose...I'll go along with you! Can't wait to start now! :)x

I dreamed about the beekeeper last night! Yikes! I think that is a fabbo idea, I've been thinking about doing a blanket again but this time am hankering to knit one, maybe the feather and fan blanket in vintage knits for modern babies... I'll possibly be able to knit one row per day so I'll be in too!

  14. I'd love to join in, I have orders for blankets but do struggle to find the time, this might help keep me on track. I'm no help with the pattern, love them all! When were you thinking of starting?

  17. I keep seeing things I want to do and I would love to, but I fear I may not keep up with all the other things on too......either that or my hubby would think I love crochet more than i love him. I love the flowers in the snow, but if it were me I would do the sunny spread it is beautiful.........oh, if only........I fear my blanket addiction is taking over!

  18. I would love to join in - it might help spur me on to finish the granny square blanket that is hiding under my end table... it got to be too daunting for this knitter.

I want to make a blanket for myself but the idea is very daunting.
