Cup Cakes and Fat Quarters

The summer holidays are flying by and we've done so very little with ourselves for one reason and another. I have very little get up and go and the days we have ventured out the older two haven't been very well behaved so it's been easier to stay at home. Today is the last day of Rich and I being on holiday from work and I really feel like we should get out and about but the weather doesn't look too promising. A nice walk along the river would have been good though.

I bought a little Cupcake Kit from here the other day which arrived on Wednesday and so far I've managed to get one made. George and Imogen had to have a go too but George hasn't finished his and Imogen's will have been swallowed up by her messy bedroom!

My lovely little fat quarters came too and I found this great site this morning with lots of projects. I really like the doll quilt and might give that a try, although I'm not sure my machine is upto the quilting part. Mind you by the time I get that far I might have a new sewing machine.

I'm still working on Bertie's blanket. I forgot to take some photographs but will do some soon. It's just simple moss stitch squares of blue, light brown and cream and it works really well together. The problem I'm having is I get a burning pain in my wrist after a little while which is really slowing me down. If it continues I might try knitting in stocking stitch just to see if it's the movement of knitting in moss that is causing the problem. If it isn't then I may have to consider hanging my kniting needles up for a while.

My children are driving me mad!

I have absolutely no idea what's got into them but they are driving me crazy - they are fighting with each other alot and George is very shouty and Imogen very whingey. They seem to have lost the ability to play imaginative games they way they did last year although the last few days has seen them playing up the garden a bit more now we have cut the grass! Roll on next week when we have lots more activities planned.

I had some lovely post this week. I'm loving slings at the moment and have done for quite a while, what started as a requirement in the early days with Katherine has become a hobby of sorts. I 'wear' Katherine most days although now she has found her feet it is less than it was! But back to my post - I took part in an order for a 'Wrapper's Paradise Girasol' and it finally came this week. Here it is

I also have another Girasol due to land this week called Cherry Pie which I'm hoping will be delicious too.

Well, saving the best for last here is Albert, our gorgeous Siamese/Birman cross kitten. He came home to live with us yesterday and he is just delightful.

And of course a kitten needs a blanket to call his own so guess what I'll be doing tonight!
